"Every port of refuge has its price" from the book & Eagles

This book is required reading for any woman that believes she is "safe" as long as there is a man by her side. As a single mom, I spent the past twenty years thinking I was financially indepedent, yet in truth I was always hoping to find the right man to take care of me so I would't have to make financial decisions for myself. It cost me a great deal of time and money to discover I am fully able to care of myself..the key is finding a man equally responsible for his finances. Only with right communication, shared goals and disciplines about money can any relationship grow long-term. "Don't Worry about a Thing, Dear" teaches all the questions to ask in a comfortable way before blindly hoping Prince Charming will be "the one". A man that cannot manage money for himself certainly will never be able to manage someone elses. This book helps women learn to pay attention, ask questions and speak up! Taking money out of the romance equation actually lets me look at the true person and decide if I wish to spend time or not. My daughter is 20. This book will teach her lessons that I wish I had learned all those years back. I suggest it for every woman that ever felt wishful for someone to just come along and take care of them. I've learned the price is just to high. Easier to do it yourself. Read this book and share it with your adult daughters.

I give this book to all my wedding couples!

As a clergy person who delights in performing weddings and counseling I was thrilled to read this book. I now give it to all my couples as their first wedding present. I urge them to read the book together, fill in the checklists with the appropriate information to share attitudes about money and to seek answers to those things they do not understand or agree upon. I find that many young couples, who are progressive in other ways, still see the financial side of their relationships through a traditional prism. In some cases our discussions have allowed possible problems to be brought out into the open and resolved before the wedding. I urge other clergy to read and recommend Ms Hayse's book. Her style is direct and understandable. It is immediate and clearly heartfelt. She takes away the mystery surrounding the topic of finances and, through her own compelling story, encourages all to become familiar with the steps to financial intimacy.

For anyone in a long term relationship...

I recommend this book for anyone in a loving, committed relationship in which there is a reliance on income - large or small - to make a living or retirement possible. Fortunately for me, my husband and I do share information about finances - but even as part of a communicative couple, I still took away very valuable lessons and reminders of outstanding and important tasks that will insure both of us are financially secure. This is a book you can take out time and time again to remind you and keep you on track. Helga's style of writing is so easy, conversive... almost like listening to a dear friend. Before I knew it, I had finished the book and created my tick-list of things still to do. Buy it and read it - today, and next year and for years to come.

Page turner!

This book is a page turner. You eagerly follow the author's personal story while learning financial survival skills and information. It teaches you what you need to know and how to practically and lovingly discuss this with your current or future spouse. I highly recommend this book for every woman who is married or planning to get married!

What Every Woman Should Know About Her Husband's or Partner's Finances, but Is Afraid to Ask

This book was recommended to me by a family member, so I read it, and immediately bought 10 copies that I distributed to my women friends. The book covers, in an easy-to-read style and a very accessible manner, those primary and essential financial matters that all women should be familiar with, but most of them are not. This book should be mandatory reading for all women, whether young or old, and whether married, in a long-time personal or professional relashionship, or about to get involved in such a relashionship, if they want to avoid painful financial "surprises," even when their husbands or partners are honest and filled with good intentions. This book could also be of benefit to men, particularly to those who care about the current and future financial well-being of their wives and partners.
