Two small sisters, playing imaginative games with quilts on a rainy day, quarrel and make up. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Quilts in the Attic by Robbin Fleischer was published in 1978. It is a nice little book, you could actually use the word "sweet" to describe the story. Two little sister venture into the attic on a rainy day and play as all little ones will. They have a trunk of old quilts and they pretend they are the wind, the king, and a star high in the sky. Natasha, the older sister is the one who thinks of the games and Rosie always says "me too." This annoys Natasha which leads to a minor argument. All turns out well though in such a gentle way. That is pretty much the story. The book is well illustrated by Ati Forberg in black, white and red. Both the story and the art capture the imagination of two little girls in a dark cozy attic on a rainy day. I liked it. When you read the back fly, where it tells of the author you find written: " ROBBIN FLEISHER was born in New York City in 1951 and died in 1977. She graduated from Hunter College, New York, and attended Teachers College of Columbia University, where she majored in art therapy and education. This was her first book." I cannot find any information on Robbin Fleisher with a web search. She was only 26 when she apparently passed away, and apparently this was her only book. I find myself amazingly sad about this, but at the same time, amazingly happy too. I am saddened because she was so very, very young and obviously had so much talent and so much love to give. I am happy because in her short life she accomplished more than many do in their long, long lives; with just this one little book. I suspect, or at least I will choose to believe, that she was one of the little girls in the story and had such a nice sister, and sweet childhood memories. I wish I had known her.
