This is my story about how I started off working at a level 12 Group home with clients who were Emotionally Disturbed to becoming a Special Education Teacher working with Emotionally Disturbed students for the last 18 years. This book dives into how I evolved as a person and a teacher to help my students. It details a lot of my experiences dealing with students with this type of disability, and believe me there have been some wild ones. I talk about all the yelling, cussing, attacks, restraints that go into working at a high level group home and a non-public school for Emotionally Disturbed students. I go into detail about what a person should expect when working with this demographic. I give all of my secrets as a teacher of what worked for me in regards to behavior management and how to set up a class for students who are Emotionally Disturbed. I talk about how the perception of these types of students are not always correct and how a person should interact with students who are Emotionally Disturbed. I consider this an autobiography of my life in Special Education, but also as a teacher resource to help with classroom management. I hope that it will give you some insight into the students that I have taught and continue to teach. To help you not give up on students and to keep moving forward even when you think there is no hope.
