People with no sense of history will have no idea of Gertrude’s involvement in slicing up the new Middle East. People with a sense of history will find the film a tad superficial and lacking detail. Remember, this is a movie, so it still needs all the elements of a movie and not a documentary, which is also available. “Letters from Baghdad” (2016).
If you do not have time to read about Gertrude, this movie is a pretty good overview. There may be a few exaggerations, and because of the short presentation of the movie, some of your favorite parts of her life may be left out. However, this is a movie, and a very well put-together movie with great visuals and music.
As a standalone film, I found it quite informative and well played.
