The Air we breathe is just one of many different atmospheric layers surrounding Earth. Simply stated, it is a combination of various gases that provide life-supporting oxygen to animals and humans. Many people falsely believe that Air is impermeable; however, the structures that protect it are compromised daily. Outer Space resides in the atmospheric layer that is farthest from Planet Earth. This is where our astronauts explore the Moon and other planets and have encountered some unexpected tragedies. Readers will better understand how our past explorations have affected this layer and what initiatives are being developed to remediate the situation.
