Push in Boötes

They stole it, but from whom?

Barbara Bach accused the Hive Queen of Vega of stealing the gravitonic technology that makes interstellar travel possible.

But from whom did they steal it? What alien intelligent race is the source of the technology?

Somebody's going to have to go and find out. Farther from Earth than anyone has yet ventured.

But Steven and Barbara Bach are now too old for such adventures.

Who can they trust to find out?

.
AN INTERVIEW WITHH RICH WEYAND

'Push in Bo tes' is the sequel to 'A Gent Of Vega.' I thought you had closed off 'A Gent Of Vega' pretty well.

I did, but there was one gaping hole. Barbara Bach, in her last meeting with the Hive Queen of Vega, accuses the bug-people of having stolen the gravitonics drive technology. She is convinced that there is no way a basically feudal society like Vega could have come up with it on their own. The hive queen does not disagree with her. The question then is, From whom did they steal it? There is at least another advanced alien race out there, and it was a big hole left by 'A Gent Of Vega.'

So they go out looking for this new alien race?

Yes and no. Seven and Barbara Bach are getting pretty old for such adventures by this point. Also, they are currently running this huge corporation, Graviton Dynamics. Also, there are the huge colony ships and the small survey ships, but there is no exploration ship currently in inventory. Their solution is to design and build a new ship type, and then to have their children go ff exploring.

'Push in Bo tes' looks a lot like Puss In Boots, especially given that cover.

The cover is another splendid original artwork from Luca Oleastri and Paola Giari of Rotwang Studio in Italy. But the title makes sense. The Vegans live to the north of us. The race they got the gravitonic drive technology from lives further north of us, in the direction of the constellation Bo tes. Now, if you thought I was above the pun of having their push into the Bo tes constellation result in finding a humanoid alien race of big cats who think that Earth fashions of the 1300s were particularly snappy, well, you don't know me very well.

How did this book write?

Not too bad, considering my ongoing health concerns. Fifty-six writing days, at a bit over 1400 words a day. That's a far cry from the thirty of forty day wonders I was cranking out seven years ago, but it's still not bad. I am recovering from a surgery as I write this blurb, but I completed the text with two days to go till the surgery, or it would have taken much longer.

That's novel thirty-nine from you. What's next? Do you have any clue?

Nope. Not yet. Not unusual at all for me. We'll just have to wait and see.
