Practical, basic text

There are a plethora of public speaking textbooks on the market. After teaching public speaking at the college level for 13 years I grew tired of the 300+ pages texts that mostly repeated each other. I knew what I needed to teach my students and what they had time to absorb within a semester. Students were not reading the long texts. This text provides the bare bones basics of public speaking and allows the professor to supplement with her or his own expertise. In addition specific, detailed speaking assignments are included in the back of the text that provide very clear instructions for students. I have used this text for one year and intend to continue. It is a brief text that is a refreshing change.
