Psychosocial intervention for the social reintegration of inmates

The proposal of psychosocial intervention for the social reintegration of inmates of penitentiary centers. With the objective of achieving social reintegration taking into account the emotional vulnerability of those deprived of liberty, discrimination and prejudices that prevail in society for people who have served their sentence. To this end, the current law was identified; the emotional vulnerability of those deprived of liberty; and good practice strategies. The study was based on a mixed field, documentary and descriptive approach, in which two psychological tests and a cognitive interview were applied. The sample consisted of sixteen prisoners. The results affirmed that the current law on the penitentiary regime supports social reintegration; a predominance of irrational thinking that "it is absolutely necessary to feel worried, anxious and fearful when faced with things that are dangerous, unknown and uncertain"; and in relation to emotional vulnerability, scores within the norm were obtained, which indicated that they are emotionally stable, mature and calm.
