Snowman's Psychology Applied to Teaching can be used as both an introductory text and an on-the-job classroom resource. Over one-third of the text is devoted to extensive Suggestions for Teaching in Your Classroom--concrete examples and discussions of how to apply psychological research to the classroom. The Ninth Edition includes coverage of hot topics the importance of Erikson's Industry v. Inferiority stage to classroom teachers; cognitive characteristics of primary, elementary, and middle school children; the relation of Vygotsky's ideas to meaningful learning and metacognition; the role of visual imagery encoding; constructivism; and technology for classroom management and at-risk students. Cases in Print features use primary source material to illustrate the relationship between chapter content and actual classroom practice.
I decided to get this book instead of the twelfth edition of the book, and the only differences I can remember between this edition and the twelfth edition based course packets I received was updated census estimates (to be expected) and different page numbers (to be expected).

As a teacher, we are required to take tests. This book filled in the gaps I had in my education. It gave me a foundation to understand what I had to read to understand. It is a good textbook for those in college but those who have been out of school may want to read it slowly.

I am using your text this summer and fall with teachers/graduate students. I would appreciate any material, text banks, or others that you can send me. I also need some suggestions as to how you think one would utilize this text during the short summer sessions. I will comment on the text after I have used it with my graduate students summer session II. Mail any materials to P.O. Box 1074, Indianola, Mississippi 38751. I am a Mac user. Rhoda Thanks for your help.
