Proteomics

Proteomics is the analysis of the entire proteins or proteome of a cell, tissue or organism. Proteins are structural or functional elements of cells, comprising amino acid sequences assembled according to DNA and RNA models. Their sequences determine their structure, and therefore their cellular functions. Post-transcriptional changes occur in most proteins. Proteomic analysis refers to the systematic identification and quantification of proteins in a biological system at a specific time. 2D gel electrophoresis, mass spectrometry are the most used techniques for proteomic analysis, play a role in the analysis of new proteins and their role in the treatment of diseases.
