This collection of two short novels by the "western" story teller Zane Grey are two of his most popular tales. Prospector's Gold is a title change of Tappan's Burro perhaps the best of the best of his novellas--a story of a man's search for gold yet also a man's search for his soul in the desert southwest. It was the title story in a Harpers edition published in 1922. Canyon Walls is the other story in this book and it was also reprinted under a different name in a Belmont Tower mass-market paperback in 1976 as Smoke Bellew, and tells the story of a man who is wanting to change his life and discovers a secluded valley, a widow with a ranch, and a new life. Both of these stories are what you would expect from Zane Grey; they are filled with great descriptions of the land and characters who do what they had to do to survive the climes of the West. There is love and betrayal, and faithfulness and unfaithfulness, great animals, and solid story telling to keep you entertained.
