OMG. Damn(...) this book is off the hook and the best art there wasn't any slang for you to decode(although theres nothing wrong with it)and not that many curse words. This plot can be seen all around the world, the situation is so mind twisting and sad that you feel for the character Troy. Must Read.

Simply Marvelous!!

The very first mistake that I made was to read the back cover that describes the book. I have learned that when there is a book by a special author - simply get the book and read. Gloria Mallette has reached the top 10 on my best author list. Promises to keep tells that story of Troy Kirkwood, a recently divorced father of a 5 year old girl. Troy marriage was a living hell. His ex-wife abused drugs. On a trip to the movies, he disappears, leaving his daughter at the movie theater. All hell beaks loose. It is discovered that Troy was murdered with little clues to who the murderer was. The Kirkwood family must stick together as they attempt to help the police solve the murder.Mallette has written a very moving book. At times, you want to scream, yell, cheer and cry (usually all at the same time) They are dealing with the same everyday issues that everyone faces, relationships in marriage and family, father/son, mother/son, and a list of others. Hats off for such great story telling. Trust me I have learned my lesson....don't read the cover, Just buy the book.Peace and Blessings!!!

Excellent Drama

This is an author to really watch out for. I definitely was not disappointed. I started this book at 10:30pm and did not sleep until I finished it at 4am. The more I read, the more anxious I was to get to the end. Ms. Mallette defintely has captured my attention with her ability to combine suspense, humor, drama and mystery all in one book. It may hsve been a small book but it was packed full of interesting, exciting material. Please keep up the good work only next time give us more pages. Kudos to you, Ms. Mallette

A Family That Prays Together Stays Together

Promises To Keep is a story about a family coming together in a time of crisis. Troy Kirkwood is a single father to his daughter, Meika. Troy and his ex-wife, Cordelia, split after a bitter divorce. Cordelia was a drug user and was more concerned with getting her next hit than taking care of Meika. Due to Cordelia's drug use and carelessness, Troy was awarded full custody of Meika.Troy lived with his parents Nola and Ron Kirkwood. They were happy to have Troy come back and live with them after his divorce. They were especially happy to have Meika live with them, as she was the daughter they never had. They had one other son named Vann, who lived in Atlanta with his common law wife Michelle and two children. Nola and Ron helped Troy as much as they could in raising Meika and promised if anything ever happened to him they would take good care of her.Unfortunately, this happens sooner as opposed to later. A simple Saturday afternoon outing with Meika, turns into a tragedy where Troy ends up dead.Vann, Troys older brother, promises his parents that no matter what he will find Troy's killer. Unexpectedly, Cordelia, Troy's ex-wife and Meika's mother, comes back into Meika's life and wants full custody. It is up to Ron and Nola to fulfill their promise to take care of Meika if something happens to Troy. Vann also needs to fulfill his promise by finding Troy's killer. Can they do it?Promises To Keep is an excellent story that makes you laugh and cry. It shows a family pulling together in a time of crisis and them finding out things about themselves that they may not have known. It also shows what unconditional love is all about.Reviewed by Eraina B. Tinnin
