A do-it-yourself work aiming to advise musicians, audiophiles and recording professionals about building and running their own project studios for under #30,000. Guidance is given on planning, budgeting, construction, wiring and audio connections, and also on purchasing equipment.
A friend of mine who's an A/V guy recommended this book...it was a solid recommendation. There's so much info and opinions about homestudios and recording, it is VERY easy for a beginner to get WAY OVERWHELMED!!! This book gives accurate, unbiased information about the issues you'll face in building a studio. The author gives an examples of his own personal studio and offers a "high end" and "low end" solution. I thought there could have been more details given about the trade-offs or noticable impact (e.g. to soundproof or not to soundproof); however, his direction on construction, equipment, costs, etc. will give you a solid foundation with which to attack the mountain of internet info and biased vendor statements! Hard to find...but worth it!
