Programmed Self Extermination: How People and Nations Trigger their own Utter Destruction and Demise!

Programmed Cell Death (or PCD, also known as Apoptosis) is a proven undisputed fact of life. About a million cells die in our body every second. The vast majority don't die from an outside invader (such as bacteria, parasites, or viruses); they collapse from the inside.

PCD is true not only in cells but also in individuals and even nations; it is a universal law with no exceptions. Think of every empire, from the Romans and Ottomans to the Nazis and Brits; Each vanished because of decay from the inside and not from an elusive ghost enemy who proclaimed in history the glory of their destruction.

The Romans grew to become the most powerful military, political and social structure in western civilization. They crushed every enemy mercilessly and controlled the entire world known then. Inequality, injustice, corruption, and decay were what haunted them till they broke down.

Their wrongs were like acid; it corroded only its container. Once it is weakened, it becomes too easy to be crushed.

Self-destruction program is embedded in each cell, person, and nation to eliminate the wicked and keep the good in check and balance.

Marcus Aurelius was not born emperor but suddenly became the wealthiest man globally and ruled over the largest empire in history. However, he never obtained that position deliberately or lost his sense of what was important. He realized his enormous risk of spinning off the right path. When he experienced success, he always remembered where we were.

We should never allow success to be corrupt us because victory is more dangerous than defeat.

Continuing to maintain humility despite the temptation to be arrogant is what defines character. Reason must lead the way no matter what good or bad fortune brings.
