Professor Spender lives a life I'm envious of.

A mistake I fear many people make when casually glancing at this book is to dismiss it as erotica. There can be no denying that Jack Spender is certainly unreserved when relating details of his sexual escapades, but writing racy scenes is easy. This book surprised me with the depth and detail afforded it's characters. The author makes me wonder as to how much of his story is fiction and how much is his real experience. When he describes a place or act, he notices details that while we would all notice, we wouldn't necessarily consider them relevant to literature. To me, that first person honesty generates in me empathy for the protagonist. I loved this book, I loved it's companion, "The Rites of Sodom" and I look forward to someday finding a now out of print third, "Russian Roulette" all by the same author.
