Since 1978 I have worked in state licensed psychiatric day-treatment centers in Oregon. In 1985 I was contacted by a former district attorney in Josephine County, Oregon. He inquired about the elements and procedures of a "home study" for one of his clients. Later I was hired to conduct a home study that might be used as the basis of a child custody decision. Since that time I have testified in over 200 cases involving families. It is my hope that this document will be of interest to other evaluators, as well as parents and lawyers.
