Process Music & Early Poems

In the first instance simple / There grew complexity / To an extent that forever / Cemented Mankind's extant perplexity

Process Music & Early Poems marks Dennis Stock's poetic debut-a collection of 43 original poems steeped in darkness, rhythm, and intellect. Combining the mature, confessional style of Sylvia Plath with the enigmatic polyphony of John Berryman, Stock upholds a tradition of studied poetry with a contemporary intuition. The world within Process Music reflects the wonders and traumas endemic to the 21st century, as well as the blistering pace of technological change. Stock responds as a polymath, processing his emotions through a variety of lenses informed by science, psychology, political philosophy, literature, pop culture, and internet memes.

Stock is a law student at the Alexander Blewett III School of Law in the state of Montana. He is a professional writer with experience in news writing and legal research, having started his career in 2017 as an intern reporter for Utah Public Radio. Writing creatively, including poetry, has been a lifelong pursuit for Stock. Although originally from northern Utah, his family hails from the American Southwest. Stock is a half-blooded member of the Navajo Nation.
