This collection of Stephen Scwartz' essays provide a glimpse into the mind and heart of a deeply compassionate man whose work has not yet received the recognition it deserves. Drawing from the ideological framework presented in A COURSE IN MIRACLES, Schwartz cuts to the heart of the inherent struggle of the human experience and provides a method for approaching our emotional lives with deep compassion. His ability to disentangle the psychological complexities of the human being in our resistance to encountering the divine is truly remarkable. Schwartz' words are imbued with the penetrating insight and compassion he has accessed within himself as a result of what must have been a painful process of disillusionment with the material world. Having struggled with the exercises presented in A COURSE IN MIRACLES, I found Schwartz' essays enormously helpful in illuminating the heart of THE COURSE's teachings. Schwartz understood that any spiritual belief system is nothing more than a tool to stimulate awakening in the seeker, who must ultimately transcend those beliefs and practices in order to perceive the Truth that these methodologies can only point to.
