This book isn't about a few moral lessons for our children to abide by so that as parents we won't be shamed by the waywardness of a prodigal. Neither is this written with the hopes that they "turn out right" so we might receive a pat on the back as parents who have done something right. This is way deeper than making us proud. This is bigger than good behavior. In fact, I don't want good. Good isn't good enough. It can be turned on and off depending on what there is to gain at the moment. Godliness is a better pursuit. It's genuine and lasting. Raising good kids was never the long term goal, although admittedly many times it was the short term win. The goal is so much more lofty than behavior modification and enforcing our way over their will. This is about equipping our children so they may enjoy a life that is fulfilling in Christ.Life is good, but it also has its fair share of hardships. Difficulties will come uninvited. Why invite more trouble by making bad decisions?There is a universal truth: sow a decision and reap results. You cannot escape the consequences of your decisions. That truth isn't meant to sound entirely negative because it has an extremely positive side. Good decisions reap good consequences. Some decisions don't require much thought because they will have very little future impact. Other decisions will alter the course of your life, and those require careful evaluation before moving forward. If you want to avoid the heartache of bad choices and enjoy the blessings of good ones, I encourage you to read through these pages and prepare yourself to make some of life's biggest decisions!
