This publication of the FAA-S-ACS-6C is vastly improved for readability and usability. This was effective May 1, 2024. See the Editor's Forward in the "Read Sample" or "Look Inside" for examples of the improvements over other publisher's versions. The Airman Certification Standards (ACS) were created by the FAA to provide an objective tool to evaluate pilot applicants during the certification process, i.e. the practical exam. These practical exams--both oral and flight skill evaluations--are the final steps for pilots to achieve certificates and ratings. The ACS from the FAA includes updates to content and formatting. Some changes we found in the new formatting included the removal of page breaks between each task and the removal of tables that we found very helpful for readability and usability. The Tasks were formatted in a run-on fashion within the Areas of Operation. The ACS presented here has been edited and reformatted for ease of use, particularly as a CFI for conducting evaluations of student readiness for the practical test. No text was altered other than style and formatting and the addition of some appendix notes brought forward to the relevant task. We hope you find this useful. Topics with subtopics are indented from the parent for readability. Skills are in the Table Style for easy reference with bolded performance tolerances. Appendix notes relevant to the task are brought forward to that task. The Table of Contents is updated to reflect new page numbers.
