Prisoners of Truth

Intelligent, honest and hopeful, Prisoners of Truth is a modern morality tale of self-discovery filled with true-life courtroom drama and humor. Jody Weiner draws on thirty years experience as an attorney to masterfully weave a plot spanning four generations. Weiner's dynamic voice has been compared with Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist by writer and filmmaker Karl Francis: "They write with the same intentions and both deal with storytelling and reality with the same integrity, obliging the reader to engage truth in a deeply comic and spiritual manner." When prominent attorney Lucien Echo is accused of conspiring with a circuit court judge to fix a criminal case, Lucien's fiance, Alex Carlton, recruits local journalist Ollie Katz to help clear Lucien's name. Ollie has admired Lucien since college and seizes the opportunity for a by-line on the front page. But Ollie grows too fond of Alex along the way and must confront his own ethical issues. Alternating between Ollie's narration of unfolding events and flashbacks to turbulent times, the story captures their generation's struggle to maintain idealism in the face of their own realities. As Lucien's day of reckoning approaches, will Ollie's infatuation cause him to cross the line? Multi-layered, provocative, and often

THIS BOOK WAILS

An engrossing tale of self-realization. Brilliantly written. Weiner's style jives with John Fante,Walter Mosley and a dollop of Woody Allen. I dig this book.

Good Characters, Good Story, a Touch of Good Humor

Fiction, Fiction - Psychological Suspense, Legal, Suspense, Thrillers ==A very nice little mystery from someone of whom I've never heard. Jody Weiner, a practicing attorney for thirty years, this book is a legal oriented mystery. The hero is a journalist investigating a prominent attorney who has been accused of conspiring with a judge to get the fix in on a criminal case. As you might expect, things have to get more complicated than that such as falling for the attorney's fiancee, his family gets involved, a good bit of humor, ocassionally it makes you laugh enough to make the people around you stare. ==I'm not sure if this is Mr. Weiner's first book or not, but at any rate, it deserves to be a success and to be the start of a series. The characters, both the attorney and the journalist are well defined and interesting -- and what's better to cement a relationship than a bit of jail time.
