Outstanding preparation

During the entire year, I was stuck in a history class where the teacher had no urge to teach us anything to help us prepare for the AP European History test, and the passing rate of his previous class was abysmal. About 2 months before the test, I realized I knew absolutely nothing about European History, and that I might as well study so i can at least pass the test and get my money's worth. I started with the REA, but there was too much detail. Then I found the Princeton. This is an outstanding book for getting the "big picture" of everything that you need to know about European History, and the material is covered in more light and informal manner which I personally prefer. By studying only from this book, and reading a couple supplemental pages in the REA to clarify some facts, I was able to pull a 4 on the AP Test. This is well worth the investment, although if you are looking for a book that covers many historical facts and details, you would be better off with the REA, but the general description this book provides is great for putting all those facts together.

Best All Around Book

Very nice review section. Some little parts are lacking. The review questions/tests are excellent. I'd recommend going through them a couple days before the test. They get you thinking in AP mode, you really understand history and the themes that are so key to doing well on the AP Exam. I think this book is lacking just a bit if you were to use it as your sole study source but if you're smart it's possible to get a 5 just by using this book (I think, I have no real evidence). I got a 5 on the exam and this book really helped. There are some interesting test taking tips specialized for the AP Euro test so don't skim over that section too quickly.

Brief, Concise, And To The Point!

A very good test prep book to use for the AP European History test. I used this book, Barron's, the one from REA with software, this Modern European History book that my teacher made us buy from him. I recommend this one, the Barron's, and the REA, but I recommend this one the most. However, if you didn't have a good teacher, this one might be a bit brief for you and you should probably try the REA instead. But if you did, like I did(Cummings!), this is the book to get. You can read the 100 page history review like the night before the test, but it's probably a better idea if you had already gone through the book and just did that just to quickly refreash everything. Heck, you can read the 100 pages right before the test(if your test is in the afternoon). They bold all the main points and give you the ideas that connect everything, so you see how events relate to each other instead of just learning facts. I ended up with a five on the test, which is amazing considering the fact that I knew nothing that happened after World War II, except that there was some cold war or something like that between the United States and Russia. Oh yeah, and get this book at the beginning of the year rather than a couple months(or days) before the actual test. It'll help you with your in class tests too.

This book helped me get a 5 on the test!

This book was so helpful to me last year! Not only did it help me get an "A" in my Ap European class, but it helped me get a 5 on the AP European test! I suggest buying this book ahead of time and reading a little bit each day, like before you go to sleep, if you have extra time, etc. This book was essential to my success with AP European.

Excellent

2 weeks before the exam, if you're in trouble, this is where to turn. I was in trouble, but I managed to pull out a 5 by reading it twice and reviewing sections that I was unsure of. The greatness of the book is found in its tendency to refresh one's memory on areas that were locked in a foggy first-semester haze. It does need to be complemented by a more comprehensive textbook review; Princeton Review is an essential but only cursory review. Practice test was decent, but the information on how to take the test was most helpful. This is an AP must.
