This book is a single source of information on the diagnosis and management of patients with primary central nervous system neoplasms. The audience includes neurologists, neurosurgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and pediatric oncologists. Diagnostic methods have changed significantly in the last several years, and effective treatments have been developed for many of these patients. Much of this information is in the literature, but there is not a central source that emphasizes clinical aspects of these diseases. This book is organized by tumor type (after preliminary chapters on history, diagnosis, and general aspects of treatment), and the last chapter discusses several miscellaneous topics, including a review of the diseases that appear radiographically to be tumors but are not. The format is traditional with the figures emphasizing typical neuroimaging of these tumors, and the references are limited to key articles rather than comprehensive reviews. Several authors from different disciplines pertaining to brain tumors have contributed.
