When Oliver Price discovers he's been hit by a stray bullet on his way home from work, he barely has time to think about much of anything before passing out. But when he wakes up again covered in a sheet and wearing nothing but a toe-tag and autopsy cuts on his chest, it's pretty clear that he's not like most dead people. He's undead, and quickly learns that he's capable of waking up from things that would kill most of the living. After being scooped up and given a choice between a permanent death or employment by a shady government agency called "Special Affairs," Oliver takes the more interesting choice and begins a strange adventure that has him rubbing elbows with zombies, vampires, ghosts, and other people who don't let death keep them down. But is he capable of adjusting quickly enough to the new rules and culture of the world of the undead? Or will he fall prey to the mysteries that await those who are like himself?
