Another great character for Mr. Johnstone. I had previously read Hunted which has the same character as the man in Prey. While it is true that Mr. Johnstone deals a lot with problems in our government, he is telling it like it is. This character, Barry, is really different in that he can change into a wolf. He has been around a long time and a couple of characters from the other book also appear in this one. The plot is excellent, and believable. The characters are great. I really enjoyed this book and can only hope Mr. Johnstone will write more books with this same man/wolf. I would recommend this and the Hunted to anyone who enjoys a touch of fantasy along with a good plot and good characters and some very honest insight into the government.Kathy Riley

a sequel to "Hunted"

The story picks up shortly after the events at the end of the first book 'Hunted' There are some referances to the creatures from "watcher in the woods" who help out our hero as a Goverment Snafu causes several goverment agencies to attempt a massive cover up of a raid on a survivalist camp goes sour. Our hero has his hands full trying to stay alive, keep his girlfriend safe as well as battle two older immortals who also has the ability to shape shift. There are some close calls with the rouge goverment agents and when word leaks out about the cover up. Most of the networks refuse to broadcast it which leads into the massive resignations of top news anchors, writers and reporters and the formation of a new network called the coyote network. This story is fast paced and I would recommend that even if you didn't read 'Hunted' the story can stand alone The olny draw back is if you haven't read 'Wather in the woods' you might be a little confused to the referances to the "Links" who help our hero in his wolf form.

Very good book

Not as good as the ashes series but very good none the less.

Good depiction of rural lifestyle invaded by outsiders.

The story starts off quickly, with only passing references to the preceding book in this series ("Hunted"). The characters are written with somewhat more depth than in certain other of Johnstone's works. The plot, though it stretches the limit of credulity, is still a captivating storyline that keeps one pageturning. The book contains the typical Johnstonian libertarian viewpoint, which is fine by me. A good read over a long weekend!
