Chase Daniels is a San Jose, California beat cop who is about to embark on his new career as a homicide detective. He is young, handsome, capable and tough, however never far from his keen sense of humor. Chase's introduction finds him off-duty riding his Harley-Davidson on a winding two-lane blacktop in the hills of San Jose. His leisurely ride turns into split-moment decisions and life saving actions due to the crash of an intoxicated biker who decides he needs to fight Chase. We first meet Faith Collins when we find her terrified, hiding in her home's pitch-dark cellar. There is no apparent way for her to escape from the three men on the floor directly above her unmercifully tearing her home apart. Faith is connected to John Evans, a charismatic and supposed pillar of the community; covering the fact that he maintains strong ties to the criminal world. He has sustained his fa?ade for years, enormously successful as a capitalist and criminal. The true villain of the story is John Evans's henchman, Rudy Sorvino. Rudy's six foot four, two hundred and sixty pound stature is outmatched only by his cunning and ferocity. Chase investigates the apparent attempt on Faith's life and develops a relationship with her through the course of the police investigation. All the while we feel the influence of Evans and experience the ruthlessness of Rudy as Rudy continues in his effort to finish the deadly job he started for Evans.Fear of betrayal and imminent arrests causes chaos amongst the criminal element while a last ditch effort ensues towards the intended demise of both Chase and Faith, bringing the story to a heart-pounding dramatic conclusion.
