In this book, I put relationships into 3 different groups, action verbs I feel describe love best - Pressing, Pulling, and Breathing. We press for different reasons. We press because we want to be in love. New love just feel so good. We press because the one sitting along side of us is so appealing that we can't do anything but stare. And then there is physical pressing and we all know what that means. But once those feelings fade, lovers can begin to pull away from one another. People who seemed so perfect in the beginning have a way of getting stupid, and as a result, break ups to make ups just turn into memories. Pulling is generally the defense mechanism we use to protect our hearts. At the end of the day, we all learn something from each failed relationship. When we get some type of clarity from our situations, we begin to breathe. When we take the time to breathe, we can see the bigger picture. Breathing is taking the present, this very moment, and choosing to not only be content, but happy with it, whether we are in love or not. It's an ongoing process, but it's life, and so we live. I call these thoughts and poems Pressing, Pulling, Breathing, We Live.
