Nowadays English newspaper is very popular and read all over Albania, Kosovo, and Macedonia as well. However, many people still have difficulty in understanding English newspaper headlines even for those with English proficiency. This is because English newspaper headlines have their own special features and culture backgrounds. This paper then will try to focus on the metaphors used as perfect rhetorical devices found in English newspaper headlines and compare them directly to those found in Albanian newspapers. We will try to find out metaphors in full equivalence, partial equivalence, or zero equivalence, which can help us to have a better understanding while reading newspapers. In this paper, metaphor is viewed in a broad sense, which is no longer a mere rhetorical device but a mode of thinking. Secondly, this paper focuses on a selection of headline political metaphor sand through translation methods to preserve the image contained in the metaphor for carrying out significant cross-cultural communication.
