Prentice Hall Bronze level copyright 1994, was an excellent literature book. The short story choices and activites were enriched by art choices that provoked and enhanced discussion and creative thinking. The essays included were varied and represented many writing styles. The poetry was challenging enough to be interesting, yet not beyond the reach of most students. The play I think, was "The Dying Detective." This Sherlock Holmes mystery, again an excellent introduction to drama and interesting to the students. I did not care for the novel, which was more my personal prejudice rather than the editor's choice. The teacher's manual provided many excellent ideas and including different learning modes with ideas on how they could be incorporated into the lessons. I enjoyed working with the students from this book as the material was appropriate, diverse, and interesting.

I really like this textbook. It has wonderful stories and poems. It is published in a unique way. It is easy to read and very enjoyable. Many of the poems are from world famous poets. The novel is published quite well with beautiful pictures. It has many exercises and writings to try out and help you understand the meaning of the poem, story, etc. you have just read. I say that this is one edition everyone has to buy.
