Sturm was born of mixed heritage. His elf mother raised him as best she could in the human city, but she had to do it on her own. His human father had disappeared before he was born. She never spoke of his father, deflecting Sturm's questions with a "I'll explain it when you're old enough to understand." That day never came.
At 14, Sturm's world was shattered as he watched his mother assassinated in the streets of Vellar by a band of armed men.
Why would someone do this? Was it because she was an elf? Or was it something more? He saw who had held the knife, but had someone sent them? Were they also looking for him?
With the help of his gnome godfathers, Sturm turns to the warrior's path, preparing for the day when he faces his mother's murders.

Prelude is the beginning of an epic fantasy that follows Sturm in his first steps in pursuing his vengeance as things quickly become complicated. Higher powers are at play and Sturm finds himself between wizards jostling for power in a corrupt high council.
