When their ship is plucked off the ocean and held captive aboard a spacecraft, Maggie Kestler and the crew of the Sally's Pride become helpless pawns in an alien invasion. Earth is next in the long line of successful "acquisitions" by K'Laadian forces.

Khreseea, K'Laadia's mission specialist, is clever and manipulative. She hopes to prove to her superiors that Maggie's crew can be used to coerce Earth into peaceful surrender. General H'Saishat, military leader of their expedition, has his own designs. He is studying the skills and tactics of a company of U. S. Army Rangers, whose plane they've also hijacked. Together they will use all they learn to humiliate and defeat humanity when the acquisition begins.

Maggie's crew has little time to warn Earth. Any attempt seems futile and might cost them their lives. But failure will cost them the Earth. So, they plot. But as they hurtle toward a strange new reality, their final solution will challenge all their beliefs... for the K'Laadian threat may not be the greatest danger facing mankind.
