"Breakfast of Champions" is a major inspiration for the format and bluntness of my book. I am also a generally blunt person, so reading Vonnegut's book was a lot like having a conversation with myself. My love prompted me to write a book about the realities of pregnancy while I was complaining to him about every ache and pain. My friend Betsy Cooper does a comic strip for the daily Texan, and my friend, Princess suggested drawing pictures. So voila, out of our collaborative minds is this un-manual on how to be pregnant once you're already pregnant.
