Preaching that Exalts Christ: The Pulpit Ministry of Steve Fernandez

By Ryan Rippee

This book introduces you to the preaching ministry of Steve Fernandez (1948-2013), founding pastor of Community Bible Church and founding president of The Cornerstone Bible College and Seminary in Vallejo, CA. Pastor Fernandez's preaching is distinguished by five characteristics that are desperately needed in our generation. He was awed by Christ's glorious supremacy and all-sufficiency. He was constrained by Christ's eternal, infinite love, which fueled his ministry. He was committed to Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered exposition of the Scriptures as the inerrant, all-sufficient Word of God. He was impassioned to spread the glory of Christ to all peoples. He was saturated with a loving shepherd's heart for the people under his care. Fernandez was a man that was determined to glorify God by exalting the person and work of Christ, and to set his preaching forth as an example of a method that delivers, convicts, comforts, encourages and transforms its listeners all to the glory of Christ.
