We begin our novena to St. Josephine Bakhita whose feast day was February 8. She is the patroness of survivors of human trafficking and we invoke her intercession for all those involved in human trafficking and for an end to this societal ill. Throughout these nine days, we will learn about human trafficking, share her inspiring words, and offer prayer for a particular intention, concluding with an Our Father, Hail Mary, and a Glory Be. A theme will be provided for each day

Bakhita was very humble: you could see this in her daily actions. She kept her place, always happy. Sometimes, when I asked her whether those words, that action or that Sisters had offended her, M. Bakhita always replied no. And she never gave any importance to what had happened. At the most, she excused them saying they had so much to do. According to me, humility was like her second nature.
