Inspirational, Instructive, and Life Changing

"Praying the Gospels" is the fifth in the "Praying the Scripture Series" written by award winning author Elmer Towns. The short uniformly formatted chapters lend themselves to being read in a devotional approach, for use in group Bible study fellowships, or for extended personal study. The format includes a unique story that establishes the historical background or reference to customs of the time. A "My Time to Pray" page gives opportunity to reflect on the background material or scriptural passage slanted to personal commitment or needs. Selections from the four Gospels are translated directly from the Greek text and recorded in a paraphrase. Towns has written "Praying the Gospel" and the other books in this series in the hope of helping the reader approach the reading of Scripture in an attitude of prayer, and that change will result through the experience. Although written in layman's terms "Praying the Gospels" is well researched, scholarly, and complete. The book can be used as a devotional guide, as a handbook for studying the life of Christ, or as a manual for establishing a more effective prayer life.
