Thomas ? Kempis (1380-1471) was an Augustinian canon regular, who lived in the Monastery of Mount St. Agnes in Netherlands. He is one of the most celebrated spiritual authors of Catholicism, his most famous work being The Imitation of Christ. Thomas was no scholar in the Renaissance sense of the term, or a great orator. But he is said to have been always ready to preach-and preach well - after making a brief mediation. These mediations about the Passion of Christ, arranged to follow the course of Lent, are taken from Thomas' series of sermons he gave to the novices of his monastery. Though originally meant for monks, they help any Catholic to love Our Lord more, and be enormously thankful to Him because He suffered so much for our sake on His Cross.
