Abidjan turned out to be a uniquely beautiful city. One would think they arrived in Egypt. In the center of town, was a great pyramid, with a walkway wrapped around leading all the way to the top. On top was a garden in which to sit and gaze over the whole city while listening to a group of African musicians playing wonderful African music. What impressed me most were the clothes, notably how the women dressed. I have seen African robes before, but I'd never have expected to see such colorful ones, with such noble turbans worn high from the head. I stared transfixed by all the colors against their lovely black skin. Each young woman moved or walked with such grace. If I said anything about my first impression of Abidjan, it would be colorful.
