This is one of my favourite computing books.After you've studied a couple 3GL system language's and played with Perl & scripting. Understand computing concepts, (Tcl probably isn't too good for random beginners or people who just don't like the paradigm). A Must for Tcl/Tk Programmers

I bought this book when I was first learning Tcl/Tk. If you expect to learn Tcl/Tk by just reading the book from cover to cover, you're sadly mistaken. I've come to learn that it is like any other book ... you learn to program by PROGRAMMING. This book provides a great introduction to Tcl/TK as well as an intro to more advanced Tcl/Tk functions. Very nice book. It's name does reflect it's content.

I have been using this book for quite some time now and I am happy to say that it's a very nice book for learning and reference (though I wouldn't give five start rating for learning). In my past experience I haven't had many occasion in which I couldn't find the answer to my question/doubt. If you are or going to be serious developer in tcl/tk, this book will definitely be on top of your desk.

The best Tcl book for web sockets.

The author writes great short programs to illustrate the features of Tcl. In particular one may point to pages 188-9, "The Echo Service." Another really short and useful program is on page 128, "URL Decoding."Without this book one might have thought that Tcl, like some other scripting languages, was verbose and opaque, but Welch shows how short and clear it is, and how powerful.

This is the only one source that my colleaque and I rely on for the Tcl programming aspect. The presentation is superb and the examples abundant, and learning Tcl has never been made easier. Highly recommended as a tutorial and a reference.
