pratical chinese reader - complex characters

this book is an excellent book if you want to learn complex chinese characters. these are the types of characters used in taiwan (not china) today. with a foundation with the complex characters you can move on to simplified characters. (there is also a simplified character version). if you can get the tapes that accompany this series from the publisher that would be a great help. the first book teaches very useful words. the second book in the series is not as practical though. if you want to practice the grammer you should get the work book also.
