Bedrock of measurable insructional design

This is a "must have" book for people who want to create instructional materials with testable outcomes. The author would say, "Never claim 'The student will understand' because you have no way to measure this. Instead, "The student will be able to do / perform / demonstrate mastery of...." TRUTH-IN-ADVERTISING: The author is a colleague here at Michigan State University. We based an enormous (~2000 students per semester) course on his instructional principles and were enormously successful at teaching computing concepts to non-computer-majors. We published something like seven papers on this experiment and received enormous acclaim from our clients departments.
