The discovery of cold fusion thrilled the entire world. But long before this prospect was raised, science fiction writers were speculating about what would happen when unlimited energy beomes a reality. These stories of fact and fiction are from Poul Anderson, Jerry Pournelle, Isaac Asimov, David Drake, Ben Bova, and others.
This really ought to be brought back into print. Sure, one of the notions in the anthology (cold fusion) is hokum, but that doesn't stop it being an intensely good read. And the point about civisatin being based on energy density is just brilliant.
Power, power everywhere.....

A very thought-provoking anthology. All the stories turn on energy(power), and how to generate it, keep it, and use it.Short nonfiction articles give a well thought precis on alternate forms of energy. Make sure you read the stories 'Snowball', and 'Roachstompers'. 'Cracking-good' reads, in and of themselves.
