This is a story about a potter and a blue plate. A little boy broke his grandmother's blue plate, shattering her heart. The potter came to the village and, with his skill and dedication, mended the plate. In doing so, he also helped the boy understand his grandfather's legend and his grandmother's deepest wish. Yet the potter declared he hadn't fully mended it, promising to return next year. This had been arranged with the boy's father--to give the grandmother something to look forward to, and to provide the potter himself with a reason to see the plate again. The potter departed, leaving behind his call and a cracked blue plate, awaiting their reunion the following year.
