Pottery Makers of Metepec is the 2nd book in the M?s M?xico children's book series by author Criselda Hinojosa. It explores Metepec, one of Mexico's Magic Towns. Magic towns are towns recognized for their art, beauty, culture, or traditions. Written in true bilingual (English/Spanish) format, children learn about the Mexican art of making clay from dirt. The book concept was inspired by the author's visit to the Gordillo Family Workshop in Metepec, State of Mexico, Mexico in 2022. Artisan Jesus Gordillo Estrada shows step-by-step how clay is made. Included are some comprehension questions and an activity to enhance learning. The format is especially suited for children 6-12 who are learning to speak English or Spanish. Its bilingual format also promotes peer experiences uniting diverse learners in a single learning environment which promotes tolerance and mutual respect. Partial proceeds from this book are donated to support the important work of the Genius Reading-Intervention Clinic, Inc. ("Teaching the World to Read, One Individual at a Time"), a tax-exempt 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization.
