A novel about a small Native American coastal town, in the Pacific Northwest that welcomes home one of its Vietnam Veterans. He makes a great positive impact on his community by encouraging them to include, in their yearly Potlatch celebration, non-native outsiders. This helps to bring much-needed income for the town, plus a new-found pride in its culture for the townpeople. It is told from the vet's little brother's point of view, which adds a candid perspective of life in a town laced with poverty and cultural annecdotes. I highly recommend any fiction-reading child or adult to join this society's annual feast with a new twist.
