What next? The artist asks. The artist wandered through neighborhood roads, searching for the answer, and there beneath his feet the work announced itself. So began the pothole photographs. First random forms that insisted on eyes made from nearby stones and acorns, with or without sticks and leaf mouths; and only after placing the eyes and mouths were quirks, personalities, and names revealed. Their humanity was expressed. A host of various emotions laid claim to the potholes. Joy, sadness, anger, love.
