Post-traumatic oesotracheal fistulas are communications between the trachea and oesophagus. Most often secondary to trauma/crush injury to a soft thorax in young patients. The main signs are coughing on swallowing, false routes, altered general condition with recurrent bronchopneumonia due to bronchoaspiration or false route. Treatment depends on fistula diameter and location. In most cases, surgery remains the ideal treatment for this disease.
