Just what I needed on a snowy afternoon

This is my first M. R. Meek book, but I have already tracked down the rest of the series. (very hard to locate to purchase, but the library didn't fail me!) I do love the English mystery, with a carefully planned plot, simple yet evocative scenery descriptions and Character, Character, Character. This is titled a Lennox Kemp Mystery, but it is the newly wedded Mrs. Kemp, nee Mary Blane, that takes the mystery solving into her capable hands. Although the mystery itself is somewhat predictable, I liked the interaction between Lennox and his wife as they cope with their new relationship while Lennox has a crisis of conscience. These books remind me of Cynthia Harrod-Eagles Bill Slider series.
