This book investigates the thought of four phenomenologists. Jean-Paul Sartre illustrates the pathological potential of epistemic Modernity. Martin Heidegger had said Dasein is the possibility that makes its possibilities possible. And being is more fundamental than knowledge since a simulation is a real possibility that is not necessarily true. While Emmanuel Levinas shows we have an infinite responsibility for the Other that goes beyond any essence and is founded otherwise than through being. His postmodern position is ethics is more fundamental than modern epistemology or ancient ontology. Jacques Derrida argues that within the values dear to the Abrahamic tradition there are aporias such that the impossible is possible.
