Katelyn spent the next five minutes inching her way forward, as she slowed her heart rate to match that of the pulsing blue spiral. She was now two-thirds of the way to the safety fence as she lifted her gaze from the pendant. The portal was iridescent and shimmering. A kaleidoscope of symmetry and energy in an intricate dance of spiraling colours. It was as though someone had taken a rainbow arch and crumpled it like a piece of paper. The topology looked infinite in complexity, but seemed to follow some rules of interplay. Katelyn thought of the numerous fractal art generators she had played with, but this occupies three dimensional space...
