Vintage book but excellent for the home builder today

This Time-Life book on building patios and decks may be older, but the clear drawings and classic information make it a very affordable reference for the home deck or patio builder. Patios are "in" and decks are "out" right now but that's hogwash. If you have a 10 foot drop off the back sliding door, you need an elevated deck, out or not. And nothing sets off a house in a wooded setting like a beautiful redwood deck. The only thing not included in this book is a discussion of the new materials for decking such as Trex and vinyl. Some of these materials can be used by the home handyman and some require more professional installation but either way, this book will help you design, repair and maintain your deck or patio. Recommended.
